Football Coaching
We went to the Alun Armstrong Soccer Centre and were trained by an FA coach. We learned new skills and played some games. At the end we met a mascot and were all awarded a certificate.
Safer Internet Day
On February 11th 2014 West Cornforth Primary School participated in Safer Internet Day. Each class was allocated time to spend in the ICT suite learning about e-safety and the potential dangers of using the internet. Some children also used the iPad to learn about how to use the internet safely and not to share any personal details online.
Bee Bot Programming
We programmed the floor turtle, otherwise known as a bee bot, so that it would go from one place to another. We started with something simple, such as from one water bottle to another. We then tried to make it change direction and then we moved on to the more complicated maps. We are now programming experts!
Durham Cathedral
Year 2 enjoyed their visit to Durham Cathedral. They had a guided tour and found out about the life of St. Cuthbert. They got dressed up and acted out some significant scenes from his life.
Builders In Class!
Those nice men responsible for building our new school paid a visit to all of the classes in the school. They taught the children about health and safety and also how the building is being put together. The children had lots of fun learning about this.
Science & Engineering Week
The whole school took part in Science and Engineering Week. Each class teacher set their children some interesting activities such as finding out who had stolen the attendance display, chromatography tests and solving maths problems. There was an uproar on day 1 when the children were told that a chicken had been stolen…
