This funding is prioritised to tailor make learning to ensure small steps of progress are continually made by all SEN learners.
At West Cornforth Primary school, for those pupils with High Needs, ‘Costed Provision Maps’ are created with detailed evidence of the support and resources provided in school. This shows the progress each child makes and additional if required funding and financial support can be applied for from the Local Authority.
Detailed assessments and target tracking ensure that all learners achieve and make progress at West Cornforth Primary School.

Funding is predominantly used for staffing to support individual and groups of pupils in each class. Combining the Pupil Premium funding [£82,000 for 2015-16] and SEN funding [£81,923] we are able to maintain single year group classes which are small in number. In addition, every class has a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is able to give additional support to pupils, employ a speech and language therapist [pt], have the services of a counsellor [pt], train people in therapeutic services and carryout intervention strategies. In some classes where the child is in receipt of a statement or their needs dictate this support may be given on a 1:1 basis.
