I was raised in West Cornforth from the age of two to fifteen years; I even went to the old nursery school. I went to church on the village green – I was christened, confirmed and married at the church. My grandmother and mother were born and raised in a house on the village green. My father built our house and my grandparent’s house on Garmondsway Road.
I believe a good Governor and Governing Body is vital to a school’s success. As Co-opted Governor, I am proud to be part of the team who will support our new head teacher and staff in developing and raise the school profile and raising standards for our children. I was a Parent Governor at Bowburn Junior School for eight years. I will use my expertise and support to ensure West Cornforth Primary School excels.
I have worked for the Local Education Authority for almost thirty years; many of those were in School and Governor Support. More recently, I worked for School Places. I am currently Appeals Manager for the Admissions and Transport Entitlement Team. I have a wealth of knowledge of education policies and processes which I will share with the school.
